This gate is good looking, and works great! The option for it to self-close, or stand open is handy. We installed it in our 6 foot opening at the top of steps to our porch/deck. We added a 2x2 deck rail to each side of the opening to attach the gate hinges to. We used deck screws suitable for pressure treated lumber. It couldn't have been easier to install, and if we ever need to remove to use the full width of the opening, it's a snap to lift the entire gate off, and snap it back onto the hinges. Adding one extension allowed ample space for safely navigating the top step. Some reviewers complained about the yellow stickers at the base of the gate. I believe these are a safety feature, as you have to step over the bar at the base when going through the gate. It is a trip hazard. The sticker is reflective, so it will be seen at night. I will be leaving it in place. I LOVE this gate and extension!

Great looking gate. My wife and I have been thinking about one of these for a while now. I didn't like what I was seeing out there. I didn't want something that would look out of place in the living-room.. My wife found this. goes up with 4 screws and has a templet to show where the holes go. Easy to open, not like the ones I have see or tried. Not sure how hard it would be for a child but for our little dogs it keeps them out and works fine. I don't see an issue with a small child as long as they don't see how you open it. Looks to be well made. The gate closes and locks on it's own and if you open it wide open it will stay. I like the idea that if you want to take it down it's easy to remove the hole setup from the attachment points on the wall. Didn't think this was to big of a deal but nice until after only a week we had company over and needed to do just that. All in all very pleased with this gate. Shipping was fast too.

We have searched high and low for a gate to expand across a 6 foot opening that we created when we remodeled our kitchen. We have three large labs - two being seniors - one who now thinks the living room carpet is a great place to go potty. We tried multiple gates....then gates with chairs - at one point we had two gates, two stools and four chairs blocking the opening and she still managed to break through and go on the carpet. As we were considering building a door (at a very expensive price) we came across this gate on Amazon. It's high enough where she can't jump over and strong enough that she can't break through it (yet)....though I have caught her leaning up against it testing it out. It's a great gate for a great price. Though the gate we received must have been a return as the screws had sheetrock embedded in them and they came in a ziplock sandwich baggie. We ended up buying heavier duty screws anyway as we knew this gate was going to be tested. I love the functionality of it as it can be removed completely off the door frame and it's easy to open and it closes completely on it's own. And I don't have to climb over a fortress to get in and out of the room anymore!!

I have a wide opening between the living room and dining room where I have to sequester the dogs when I'm not home. I got the gate and 3 extensions in order to go across the whole width also adding in a little bend next to the gate on both sides to add stability. The pivoting mounts made it so I could attach to the wall at an angle and I actually used very heavy duty velcro to attach to the wall, so I didn't have to make holes. Since the gate is wider than the opening it braces against the wall, and the angles I put into it also allow it to stand on its base so it is very solid. My woodwork is white, so the elegant linen finish also makes this gate blend in and it looks very nice. If I have one gripe, I wish it was a little taller. My frenchies won't be able to jump it, but a slightly bigger (more athletic dog) probably could.

I purchased this gate after spending at least an hour reading reviews on gate solutions for large openings. We needed to section off a 70" opening between the foyer and dining room and wanted a sturdy, attractive barrier. This thing is very easy to adjust and made of solid metal that happens to match dark wood floors nicely. The mounts adjust easily for base molding - very important! I also like the easy option to remove: simply press down on releases at the wall mounts and lift up, then fold sides in for easy storage. Gate stays open if left over 90 degrees. My only gripe is the gate latch; which takes good effort to open (but, hey, little ones will not be able to operate.)

I love this product. The finish is rich and beautiful. Installation was a snap (measure twice; drill once). Wall anchors are not included, but in many installations (i.e., if installed within pass through doorways) you won't need them. Unlike one of the reviewers I did not find the screws weak. I drilled holes slightly smaller than the screw diameter and they went in just fine and did not strip. The gate is sturdy, opens easily and locks automatically when it is closed. I raise service dogs so I was looking for something that would last, was reasonable in price and works well. This satisfies all those criteria.

It should last forever for indoor use. However I use it on my deck. My only concern is all the joints are semi-soft plastics. This gate is PERFECT for blocking off the entry door. My bullies were driving me nuts squeezing by when the front door was opened. I placed this gate across the entry hall behind the entry door to make a double door vestibule. It works just as I intended. The gate keeps the dogs away from the door, even though it's close enough that I can reach across and open the front door from behind the gate. I would have thought that my dogs could easily jump the 30" height (they can do that outside, but my overactive boy just puts his paws on the top post. It helps that the bars in the gate are vertical so they can't be used as steps to launch from. I have trained them to never cross the gate without me anyway. The only downside is the pass through gate latch. It takes two hands to release it because you have to wiggle the latch a bit. That's a pain if you're coming in with a load of stuff in your arms. The mounts on the ends are fairly easy to handle for folding the gate back of one side on lifting it off by releasing both sides.

This gate is great-- there are so few choices for a space this wide (our opening is 61") and we are very happy with this pick. First, it looks nice and sturdy, not cheap, flimsy, or plasticky. Second, the opening mechanism is very simple to use; my 3.5 year old can work it very easily but it keeps the baby away from his small toys. Third, you can unlatch one side and fold the whole thing against the wall without uninstalling it for those times when it is inconvenient to have the gate in place (like moving furniture or a grown up dinner party.)
